To have refreshment form the chaos of city Mount Mitake mountain is a ideal place for hiking outside of Tokyo. A hiking map is available at the Mitake Visitor Center and at the shrine (closed on Monday). Its shows extensive network of hiking trails. This area belongs to 1250 square kilometers of forested mountains, hills, gorges and some rural towns. This is located in Okutama region. To reach upto the mountain peak it takes 20 to 30 minutes walking distance. On the way to the top of the montain, various souvenir shop, japanese hotels are available for shopping and refreshment. From the shrine there are various types of hiking options to the nearby peaks. It does not take more than 1 hour to go to the neighboring valley from the shrine of Mitake mountain. To practice hiking in this area the traveller does not need advanced mountaineering tools but sturdy shoes and sun protecting cap.

Kamakura is another small town which is popular for hiking trails, temples, forests and craft shop. The hills of this area are attractive to the hiking lovers.

Mountain Mizugaki is another trailing point for hikers. Here the charming scene is rock formation directly. From the top of this mountain the entire Minami Alps, Kinpu and Yatsu-ga-take can be viewed. Another trailing site is the Mountain Kumotori. It will take about 90 minutes to reach to the top of the mountain. Hiking in winter is expensive here. Here water source is not available.

Numayamatoge is an interesting hikikng place where the whole way is marked by red marks and it will take just 20 minutes to reach to the top from where another Mountain Hiuchi starts its way. On the way to this mountain  a small village and lots of huts which makes it a wonderful place to stay. Mountain Minobuchi is one of the five peaks of the mountain Hiuchi. On the right of it there is a steep, rocky spine way called Shibayasugura which is very charming for its natural scene but the hiking here is terrifying in the month April and May.
